Framegrab - filmic feel / what else to do?
what do you think about this grab and what else could i do to improve the look?
does it already have a filmic feel for you? http://img168.imageshack.us/img168/5438/frame1tj4.png thx for any answer... :) |
Is there excessive red? On your monitor. Is your monitor balanced?

It's a nice shot. The diffusion looks nice, maybe a little on the strong side though, nice shallow depth of field, good color, maybe a little too red for some folks but in story telling through moving pictures, the color is many times very subjective. I'd have to see a clip of the shot though to really see how it looks.
Got any? |
yeah, it may be a little too red for some people but i really liked the athmoshere that these colors created.
i will upload a clip later... btw: thats the original grab... http://img225.imageshack.us/img225/2...riginalye9.png and another very, very warm version... http://img220.imageshack.us/img220/3403/bild4hi6.png |
hey
I'm not able to see the original grab...not sure why... Anyway, I agree that the first grab has a little too much red and in both grabs, you have overblown her white collar. I personally prefer the warm version but it's still too much grading for me lol. Personally, I would not let the grading call too much attention to itself. |
I have to say, to me, this is not filmlike as far as the color grading goes. The composition is great, but that glow effect (I use it, too on occasion) is only good for music videos, not so much in narrative work. Or some scene that calls for an ethereal look. And it's oversaturated to me. IMO, you need to desaturate, work the hues, contrast. Take a DVD you like and pull a grab from a similar scene. It won't look like this. Check out this link for a good example of color grading of HD to look like modern film.

Need to desaturate a bit, and way too much diffusion
