24p / 25p Low Light Scene Settings at DVinfo.net

The events I shoot are mostly low light affairs. Having recently got myself a DVX100E (PAL) I would like to shoot progressive but concerned about the light issue, I've played around with the scene settings but not really made any progress in getting a decent picture in low light.

What do you tweak??

BTW, I'm planning on shooting 25p with a 25 shutter speed (the PAL model has these rates) to match my DVC30 which will be on 25 shutter also.

The first thing you want to do is limit your gain to about 12db or you will have a very noisy picture. If your camera has gain on automatic, it will turn up the gain too high in low-light situations.

Thanks Marcus, gain is adjusted automatically in progressive mode so I take it you're referring to the max limit in menus options, I was assuming 12 would be too high and was going to keep it below this..
