Howdy From Texas vers. 2.0

Hey All,

I'm Scott (as the user name suggests...) and I'm from Texas (as the thread title suggests). I'm actually not involved with video stuff in any way shape or form - by day I'm a wireless-comm. researcher grad in the electrical engineering dept. @ Rice U, and by night I'm a music producer :)

I'm trying to branch out and make some useful / interesting contacts (perhaps trade some work for work), as all of mine are in the music business. I'm also going to try to stick around and help out in the audio forums however I can. :)

In terms of the music stuff, I producer under "Great Scott" - I'm kind of a new artist to the general public. I've been making electronic music ~ 8 years, and I finally landed some record deals with BijouBreaks and FiberLine Audio, which are both fairly reputable. I've also had my music on rotation @ BBC Radio 1 (Bobby & Nihal's Show)/SIRIUS satellite radio, Proton Radio, and Dance Radio Greece to name a few :) Getting hard-cash funding to do stuff for electronic music is pretty tough - so I'm more than happy to exchange services (I can also do film-score style compositions too). So if you're interested, drop me a line and I can shoot some clips/tracks over to see if you like it.

Til then, I'll maybe drop a post in the jobs section, and shove my knowledge into the audio section.

Best,
Scott

Welcome to the board. I am an ex-Houstonian myself up until end of 06' . Also come from the Music Studio scene there. I wish you luck with your music, Houston is a tough town for music. again , welcome.

Ah yes it is :D It's getting better, however. There are a lot of cool venues and monthlies that have popped up.

But yes - the crowd there is VERY tough. They have that "you need to prove yourself" sort of attitude ;)

Thanks for the kind hello!

Do you work with any of the big studios there, or do you do your own thing?

I do my own thing actually - which is pretty much how the electronic producers here work. All you need is a pretty decent computer, a good soundcard and monitors. There's one group of guys I know who pooled all their stuff together, but that's about it.
