DV Info Net - New from Eugene Or.

Hi All, I am very new to this arena of video, editing, or having the right computer to capture and edit with. I do have a computer, but will be getting a new one. I am getting a Canon XH A1 in a couple of weeks. I have been waiting for years to get into video until HD camcorders were good and easy enough for someone like me to use. Now that I can get them, I need to get the right info on what computer to get for editing, what edit program to use for the XH A1 with out all the head aches that I have been reading about on this forum. I have been wanting to get a Mac Book Pro, but . I don't mind getting a desktop ether. I'm not knowledgeable enough to get the right hardware for the software to use for the XH A1. So any help in getting the right stuff would be greatly appreciated. My budget is a little tight, I don't really want to spend more than $4000 total on both computer and editing program, if at all possible.
