Hello from Lubbock, TX

This site has made me look good more than once over the past few months so I thought it was about time I join in and (hopefully) return the favor. I originally found dvinfo while researching video equipment for a grant that I received earlier this year. All of the advice and answers I found in this forum truly made the project a success. So, huge thanks for that. In the process, you have converted an avid photographer into an amatuer videographer.

By day, I work as a programmer at Texas Tech University. At night (and in the wee hours of the morning) I am a graduate student of instructional technology. The grant that brought me to this site involves developing a new approach to K-12 biology education. I won't get into the gory details, but basically I spent a month in a Malaysian rain forest this summer filming bats and scientists with a film student (I got to work the 'B' camera and carry the tripod). Needless to say, it was an amazing experience and got me hooked on videography.

Welcome to the forum. I'm jealous that you were able to film in the rain-forest. My former vacation camera (Panasonic PV-GS120) gave me the dreaded 'dew' warning just about every day in Costa Rica. Sold that pretty much a week after my return to the states.

It was a great trip. We didn't have as many problems with humidity as I thought we would. We had the occasional fogged up lens, but that's about it.
