Hi from New Zealand

Hi I just bought a XL1(PAL).

I run a computer shop in Auckland and I do video just for Hobby at the moment.

I usualy do video on concert which I'm a guitar teacher(Classical) of a choir group named "Souther Cross Korean Performing Arts Group(http://skpag.listen.to)".

There was a lot of information here... and I hope I can share...

Hey there cuzzy bro,

I'm originally from across the ditch, but currently in Japan. Welcome aboard, I'm sure you'll be able to share especially in the what's available for my computer department.

Hey , how's things? I'm in Auckland too. Still shopping for my own camera at the moment, but once I get it, I'm away!

Where did you get the Xl1? Did you get it secondhand and if so, from where as I haven't been able to find any canon Xl1(s) second hand anywhere!

Have fun with your new camera! What computer shop do you run?(I'm a computer geek also)

See ya round.

Hi there

I bought my XL1(New) from Tech Pacific when it was on special.
I remember that the price was NZ$4000+GST.

I'm at northcote and my shop name is HANLA COMPUTER.
(Phone 4805048)

Recently I get service from canon for some problem but it's OK now.

$4000 NZ Dollars? That's a steal! They go for a lot more here in Canada, and the Cunuck Buck's worth a lot more. I guess we get shafted up here.

Hey lim, what's the price on the XL1s from Tech Pacific? My work has a techpacific account so we can get one from them if the price is good, I'm just not there now and can't get hold of our login information. :)

Never heard of your computer shop, but I don't live on the shore so that's no surprise. Next time I need some computer gear, I'll drop by and say hi.

Cheers
Aaron

Check ebay for used cams. I found one being auctioned off for about $4000 U.S. It had a Frizzell mini fill, bag, filters, lcd monitor... a bunch of extras. Poor guy needed cash for school, so he was giving up his XL1s.

I would, but most of ebay is U.S. stuff, and that poses two problems for me here in New Zealand.

1) Freight prices.

2) Security that I'm getting a good item. In NZ, I can go and visit the guy if I need to and pick it up.

Don't be suprised!

That XL1 was sold to me when they do a stock clearance.
And it was only for dealers.

I find that the new XL1S dealer price from Tech Pacific for us is
NZ$7447.19+GST(NZ$8378).

Actually, ebay is pretty global. I have even sent things to auction winners in NZ. NTSC, Pal, whatever. You might be surprised at what you find.

That's not a bad price for the Xl1s. I've managed to find one for $8156 at a retailer in Auckland which is the cheapest I've found. I wonder if TechPac do Sony PD150's? I'll have to check their price out on that. Maybe they can match the Xl1s in price and if that's the case then I think the PD150 will win out over the Xl1s.....To bad it don't look at good :)
