From Southern California...

I'm pretty wet behind the ears when it comes to DV stuff, but I learn quick.

Just bought a Canon GL2 for Video Productions at my church where I am Youth Pastor. We have a ton of experience with Plays and Dramas, but little or none with Video.

I joined this forum, because I want to learn a lot, and make Video Movies for young people as a ministry. Right now I am using Pinnacle Studio to do my editing... so far it has done what we needed it to do, but I know there is better stuff out there, like Vegas, Premiere and Avid Xpress. Does anyone out there have any experience with any of these? I love to get some input.

Thanks!

Hey John, welcome aboard! The GL2 is a very fine camera and
you'll shoot some excellent footage with it.

I've dabbled with Premire a bit but have completed my short
just last weekend in Vegas (first project done in it). You can
see it at [url=www.ladyxfilms.com] (warning: it is a bit of a
violent episode). I really like Vegas. Very easy to use and very
powerful!

Welcome John!

Now I can reply to your post. I wasn't able to when you first placed it.. I have no idea why the POST REPLY button was not available.

I too own a Canon GL2 (and a GL1) I use them to tape our church tv program and quality is great! Our program is broadcast through Adelphia Cable here in Lancaster.

I'm glad more Christians are joining and are willing to learn about multimedia :)

As to what NLE I use.. well I use FCP3 (Final Cut Pro 3) I'm on a mac.

Good luck and your projects!
