Roy Verges, new guy around here...

Hello. I thought I'd introduce myself.

My name is Roy Verges, and I'm a computer operator at the Denton Independent School District. About a year ago, the
powers that be here decided that I would become a video
editor/cameraman type of person, and I've really enjoyed
adding this to my skill set.

My background is in music. I've studied a lot of instruments
and styles, and have written and recorded some as well.
I'm currently playing percussion with a local chamber orchestra.

Basically, having a duty here at work that involves a timeline
is great, because it's like writing music. It's a realtime art and is a great pleasure to do.

I've begun setting up an editing studio at home over the last
year. I've got two PCs running Premiere 6.5. I've edited one
wedding (five tapes - 150 hours of editing, and almost two
hours long at the final cut), and at work I've done a 20-hour
project which involved a reading and writing workshop (that
took 8 months to do...).

My focus is going to be editing, since I don't have the budget
to set myself up as a cameraman. If anyone in the D/FW metroplex is interested in collaborating, I'm available, generally,
at 940-458-4465.

Thanks,

Roy

Wow, 150 hours of editing?!? That's crazy! Hope you got paid well!

Anyway, welcome to the forum!

I did the wedding edit for free... my aching back...

But I learned a lot! And I'd do it differently this time
around, too.

Now I'm ready to charge money. I would've charged
$750 minimum.

Oh, and that reminds me - all editors should do yoga.
After all those hours in front of the computer, with
gravity pulling the bones down, yoga stretches
everything out and puts them back in place.

Roy
