Hello,
I am looking to move into the world of DV. And, after much research, I think my Camera of choice is going to be the Canon XL1s, with my editiing system a MAC G4-dual proc. running FCP3.

I spent quite a bit of time reviewing informaiton on this board and it appears very helpful, professional, and informative. Are their any users in the NE Ohio region with similar set-ups?

Since I come from the old analog (Panasonic/Sony/Play Trinity) A-B roll days, I have much of the support gear and audio tools to enhance my new Cam.

So, the big question is... Go with the XL1s, or look for something else. My shooting is primarily freelance and hobby stuff now, although I do produce bits for the company I work for.

(We make microphones and wireless mics for studio, broadcast, live sound, and contractor applications)

I'm sure with your experience in both video and audio(especially in the mic department) you'll find yourself quite an active participant. I'm looking into upgrading my audio setup at the moment so I'm sure I'll have a question or 100.

Hi there. I've been thinking about what to get also and I was almost happy with the XL1s, but then I read a discussion on here where many many people were having problems with a black border at the bottom (and sometimes sides) of the digitised images. It seems like this is an endemic problem with the XL1s, but I haven't have the chance to try one myself to see if this is an issue with them all - but it certainly looks like it.

On a tv it's ok cause they underscan, but if you want to show on a computer monitor or somesuch, you will notice it.

You may want to research further before you purchase.
