Hello from Alaska

It's nice to see another person from Alaska in this forum. :-)
I have been involved in DV.com and 2-pop for a long time and have
never seen any other Alaskans in any of them so this is a first. :-)
Anyways I have a 4year degree in Television production and have worked
in television for 8+ years shooting and editing. I've had a lot of my work
on KTUU's local news. I'm now expanding to freelance projects as well...I have shot commercials, documentary footage, promos, wedding, events (sports and concerts), and full TV programs. I use a sony PD-150 and Final Cut Pro on most projects but I also have a beta camera. I travel a lot
for shoots and have shot in southern Cali, Washington, Oregon, Utah, Montana, Nevada, and of course Alaska. If anyone has any questions for
me, wants to hire me :-) or just exchange ideas or whatever feel free to say hi. Nice to be here and I'll talk to everyone later

:-)

Hello !

If you get a moment to take a breath, Mike and I would love to meet you and exchange experiences sometime in the near future.

We have a small office on King Street south of Diamond that we are currently setting up for post production work.

Most of our experience is on the hardware side in back end of the process.

Let me know !

Rgds.,
Dan

Use the email on my profile since I currently use that one to control spam. I'll reply from another email.

Hey Dan,

I'd love to talk sometime...unfortunately your profile has no email listed
so if you wanna shoot me an email the address is:
AK cameradude@aol.com

Most of my background has been shooting productions for television...so
I'm not someone to ask about the "film" look. :-)

another alaskan

I'm from North Pole, Alaska. I'm a refugee from 2-pop. I find the new forum structure there to be much less interesting and inviting that it was in the past. From the number of posts that are being generated I'm not alone. In any case I have a GL2 on order and I'm looking forward to being able to record some quality footage. I'm not a pro by any means but I enjoy video and editing with FCP.

welcome Bud

It's great to see more Alaskan's joining this forum.

There is another member from Fairbanks, but I can't think of his name at this very second.

I travel to Fairbanks often since my "day job" owns Raven Building products on Old Richardson Highway.
In fact I'll be up there Wednesday the 5th, but I have an early flight in, and an ~6pm return.

Are you working on anything interesting right now?

One of my friends over at KTOO TV here in Juneau just bought a GL-2.
He loves it....I checked it out a few days ago and it looks like it shoots some
nice looking video. You'll like the camera...it's pretty cool.

Most of my background has been watching TV.
So, I'm not concerned about the "film" look.

Hey Frank good to see you here too. I try and read as much stuff about
video as I can...here, DV.com...2-pop a little bit but less since they seem to have morphed into this "if you aren't after the film look then you are SCUM :-) forum". I'm actually at work right now putting together a piece for the 6p local news. I'm just checking in here while I wait for the next interview...I have all the B-roll and the first interview edited...so I got some down time for half an hour or so. By the way I got a new job...I'm the GM at KJUD-TV here
in Juneau (ok so the title doesn't mean much...it just means I'm a one person
bureau and by law they have to call me the GM.) But hey, it'll look good on the resume right??

hey dan

I'm not in the middle of anything right now. I busted my other DV cam and am replacing it with a GL2. I haven't done anything pro other than helping on a local commercial, but I do a lot of personal stuff using FCP and I'd like to put the GL2 to good use so I'm always looking. Next time you're up this way gimme a holler and we'll spill a beer.
Same goes for any of the other Alaskans. I never get down to Juneau...
BTW, Frank G....thought that was a great sig. :)

Bud:

The next 4 weeks I'm on daytrips (1 per week) where I'm at the airport ~7'ish and out ~6'ish. I may be able to swing a Pike's Landing "stop" on the way to the airport

If not, we'll have to catch up some time this spring/summer when I get a chance to stay for more than a day.....

You'll have to take me to the local-secret-handshake grayling fishing spot.......to actually spill beer.....OK <:)

Cheers to Alaska!

I'm currently going to college in Seattle but that will all be done in June and I may be back next winter. Also, I just ordered a GL2!
