Now, that I've done my first film

I've posted here many a time before, but as a total and unexperienced novice at video and film. However, I've just done my first job as a DoP and absolutely loved it. It was a lot of work for 8 minutes of footage (worked out to be about 7 1/2 hours of work), but I would not trade that experience for anything. After the footage gets cut, I'd like to post it up here for your suggestions. Hopefully in about 3 weeks or so.

So, here's my intro:

Adam Rench is my name, I'm from northern Illinois around the Waukegan area.

My father is a portrait photographer and does very well with that, but I've always been a techie. We sort of met halfway with the invent and popularity of digital media. I've picked up his "eye" for shots and passion for art.

Anyway.. I've started a indie film production company. I popped for the camera and lights and such. Here's a list of my equipment.

Sony HDR-FX1
Monfrotto tripod w/ 501 head
Audio Technika shotgun mic w/ shock mount
Marantz PMD670 CF sound recorder
My personal Laptop which is pretty powerful – windows based
Adobe Premiere Pro 1.5
After Effects Pro 6.5
Avid Xpress Pro Suite (Xpress Pro, Avid 3D, Avid FX, Sonic DVD) (will be supporting HDV probably by the mid to end of summer)
Sorensen Squeeze 4
Pro Tools LE w/ Mbox
Yamaha 76 key keyboard with midi outputs to use with Pro Tools
Shure studio microphone w/ stand
Alias’ Maya 6 3D program
Vue 4 Pro 3D scenery program
Newtek’s Lighwave 8 3D program
Final Draft 7
Green Screen
Lowell 5 light kit with barn doors (no stands though)
Reversible white/gold reflector

I've pretty much got everything I need to make a movie (even a decent one).

So, that's about all. Hope to see you guys around. :)

Welcome, I used to live in Gurnee back in the late 80s early 90s.

Ahh. I see you are in FL now? I'm heading to the Keys this week. Nice little 8 day trip.

I'll be taking my old Canon MiniDV cam there too. :)

I used to work in Gurnee after they put in the Gurnee Mills mall.

My uncle now lives in Pompono Beach. He couldn't stand the cold weather. :o)

In about 1 month I will be permanently out of FL. Sold my house and will be here in Arlington or here abouts for awhile (unless the job overseas comes through).

That is quite a list of equipments and softwares.
Welcome to the board!

Hi Kevin,

Thanks for the welcome! Regarding the equipment. I tend to dive in head first when I get into something (which usually leaves me pretty broke most of the time, haha) so I started buying all sorts of stuff to create a low budget production house. I think I got pretty much everything I need to make a movie. Now all I have to do is learn how, haha!

Thanks

Adam,
What laptop are you using?

Oh, by the way, can we see your first movie please?
