greetings from Liverpool

Hi,

My name is Lee Hughes, I know totally nothing about any of this and have 1 year to learn as much as possible with my 7D before I leave for my expeditions...

See you around

Belated welcome to dvinfo, Lee. (I noticed you posting a couple of months ago but didn't clock that you're from Liverpool). Anyway, you are now added to the Doomsday Book that is my list of Brits active on this list. Last posted version here http://www.dvinfo.net/forum/these-pe...ml#post1447552 but a few names, yours included have been added since.

Best of luck with your great adventure when you go - looking forward to seeing the clips. I'm afraid I'm still humphing around an old fashioned HD camcorder with all its accessories and gadgets, so I can't offer much advice on using a 7D on the road.

Hi Colin..

Yeah, I posted a few months ago but with the wealth of information that I have to know I thought it was best to say a quick intro..

Now I just need to find a book or a blog for the idiots guide to digital video.. lol

Am sure I will pick it up pretty fast (hopefully)

Thanks again

Idiots guide to video is to ShootShootShoot, Lee.

Tell your on-board mic what you're doing, and on replay later through a well set up TV you'll see what works and what doesn't.

Say things like, 'This shot is auto white balance, IS on, auto iris, locked shutter, 25p', Now watch and re-watch the footage. Video is the greatest of teachers, accurate, repeatable, cheap, reliable, and never grows weary, never rebukes.

tom.
