Smallville

Hello DVinfo-netters.....

...I recently purchased the 1st season of Smallville on DVD. It has several DVD's which in addition to the regular footage as seen on tv, adds deleted scenes and director's commentary (if u switch it on).......curiously I noticed that if you check the commentary on- you'll see several scenes (on the last DVD with storyboards) that look to be shot at DV quality or close to it- definitely not the high definition cameras that the Smallville producers use (you can watch Smallville at high-def if you have an HDTV or HDTV receiver)....so my question is- being that the scenes I saw were of the exact same footage as that as shown on TV- is it possible that they use DV/DVCAM cameras rolling to collect footage exactly as their HD cams? I do know it's the exact same footage as you can see all the episodes of the season on the DVD's and the footage is indeed hi-def but looks very "video" like.......any comments?

(is HD film processed for the HD look- i'm trying to figure out why the footage looked so "video" like.......made me think I can shoot video and later have it have that HD look????)

I'm betting the footage didn't go through a perticular process
or that the MPEG2 compression used a way lower bitrate on
those scenes (which behind the scenes/making of's etc. do
usually)

I've seen "Superman's" blond girlfriend walking around in my neighbourhood a couple of times. Saturday a week from yesterday I saw "Batman" in my local coffee shop.

Now if you had seen Lana.....

Frank Granovski October 5th, 2003 08:17 PM

Lana, that's the dark-haired one, right? She comes around here as well but I haven't seen her. There's lots of actors who live in my neighbourhood or just come to hang out. Back in Winnipeg, all I saw was Winnipegers and tourists trying to run away. :)

What a dull day today. Cold, humid and overcast. (I just took a walk to Safeway to get my pipe tobacco.)

I definitely need to finish your part of the world then! Lana is one
very nice girl... Just amazing!

Frank,

get some of those Smallville people on tape and post it here------i'd love to see them in natural everyday settings......that Lana is awesome- so is Lex's new wife- she's incredible too!

OK- let me mop up the drool here on the keyboard!

A friend of mine worked in the armory/props devision of Smallville up until this new season. I could have sent him in with a micro camera to get lots of great closeup shots of all the actresses for you perv... er.. gentlemen.... <g>

I'm into shooting cheeks at the beach with my SLR (Kits Beach). I don't want to bother actors walking around West 4th Avenue. I'm sure they get enough of people bothering them.

Besides that Canadian actress who plays Lana has the body of an underdeveloped 10 year old midget. Yuck. I have to see at least some hips please.

Better flat the phoney though.
