Casshern the Trailer. It's a Japanese fantasy film with really nice fx compositions.

Looks very nice indeed. Too bad I couldn't understand a word
they are saying. Is this from anyone who did any other major movie work (I am familair with *some* of the bigger work in eastern cinema). |
i saw a link at another site actually. dunno much about it since i don't watch much japanime. it's supposed to be based on a manga but with live action guys.
|
i thought it was a live-action remake of Akira for a second.
Definitely some scene influences there. Great looking piece. Hope it has substance too. |
I've watched it. One of the most beautiful films i've ever seen. But the story just isn't there. By the end of the movie it's just blanetly trying to hammer a message into your head; that you just can't help but be turned off by it.
|
that's too bad. with all this technology... no1's found a way to tell a nice+compelling story with it yet. well wait there's lord of the rings =). but that was all from the book.
it's sorta like final fantasy. great eye candy... but poor execution of story. |
How about Big Fish? Perhaps the best use of CG to further the story as opposed to wow the audience.
|
while there are obviously many films that rely on fx, i think there are also a good number of quality films that use fx to help tell the story. fight club's another good example. there are many.
