Napoleon Dynamite

ok....if you have seen this movie, then you probably already know what im about to say. if you havnt then you need to go see it. first off, its a really funny movie in my opinion; really redundant, but none the less funny. but i was just wondering if anyone knows how this movie possibly made it to theaters? if you've seen it then you noticed that it wasnt exactly the most thought out movie....i mean in one scene where the character 'kip' is on his computer you can see the delay on the screen where the fps dosent match up with the camera. if any one knows, i would like to know the background of this movie and how it was made....thanks for your time.

"but i was just wondering if anyone knows how this movie possibly made it to theaters?"

The independent's dream. Expanded from a short film (same director and star) in which the main character had the slightly less gaudy name of "Seth." It was accepted to Sundance, then picked up by Fox Searchlight for $3 mil.

The production budget--$400,000--surely excuses any technical errors. It was shot entirely on the director's home turf in rural Preston, Idaho, using his high school and the land around his home. That llama is his mom's. The only cast member even resembling a star is Hillary Duff's sister Haylie as the "villain."

Incidentally, when I was in Paris shooting a short film a couple of years ago, our co-producer was telling me about this feature he was helping to line up financing for. I asked him what it was called. "Napoleon Dynamite," he responded. "What a stupid name," I thought to myself. "It'll never sell!"

But great movie, yeah!
