right click-save as. this is day27 if you wanna d/l it yourself on kingiskong.net. it's so funny cause Peter says, "this is the future" of acting against CG backgrounds. if you remember our thread on sky captain or star wars all of us have been saying how wooden the acting has been on movies with CG. i think indirectly peter has been making fun of those films =^). sheck it out for a good laugh!!!!!!

*bump*. anyone see this yet? it's pretty funny.

Joshua Starnes October 14th, 2004 05:54 PM

It's funny, but I think you're reading the Lucas joke in yourself.

He's not saying it's the future of acting against CG, he's saying it's the future of acting in a movie that has been prevized - so the intuitiveness of performance is gone and actors become nothing more than living puppets replicating moves from previz.

In reality, that's bollocks, though previz is useful for extremely complex shots, it doesn't have anything to do with performance, and Jackson knows that.

But it doesn't have anything to do with Lucas, or being in front of a bluescreen, or working with a CG creature or whatever.

I can't figure out what he's doing here.

If he's trying to capture body motions to be married later to facial reactions in post--and what would be the point of that?--he's got a big problem in that the actors are carrying over the mechanistic affectation required for keeping a neutral facial expression to their body motions as well.

Jackson's final line is what Al Franken calls "kidding on the square."

Robert,

They were kidding.

Robert Knecht Schmidt October 15th, 2004 07:47 AM

Gosh, Barry, do I feel dumb now.

It's actually a pretty good joke.

Barry Gribble October 15th, 2004 04:15 PM

Robert,

Hehe, yeah, I know the feeling... don't you hate that? They are pretty darned dry about it though... and for us technicallly-minded folks it's easy to latch on to the details and miss the intent....

Yeah, I agree though, it was pretty funny :).

I thought they did a really good imitation of the CGI guys. I don't think I could have done so well on the drop of a hat.

Now that's acting.
