Editor's showreel

This may be covered somewhere on this board before, but how does one make an editor's showreel? I mean, for a camera-operator it's obvious: you pick the best shots you have and edit them in a nice montage. How do you make an editor's showreel without it being too long? How do you show the client that you are indeed a good editor? That you know how to tell the story.
Do you show segments of projects you've worked on? Or is it just about having a well timed and logical 2,5 minutes of footage bundled with graphics....

All insights are welcome!
