READ THE PIECE BELOW BEFORE YOU WATCH THE MOVIE..

Great cars and you can see the beach, no hotels !!!!!

The long-awaited, much-deserved joy is very apparent here!
JUST THINK HOW THIS YOUNG LADY FELT WHEN
SHE DISCOVERED THE VIDEO HER FATHER SHOT.

Great video of a Spontaneous Victory Parade in Honolulu in 1945. Take a look at this video-absolutely fabulous! Notice the cars and jeeps, youth. The guys in khaki or gray shirts and black ties are Navy officers or chiefs. The rest are Army or Marine. How young they all were to do what they did.

This guy really captured a moment in history!
(You can listen to Jimmy Durante singing
"I'll be Seeing You" in the background, too)
This is a super video of a time past - we need to remember and be THANKFUL.
Check out the color fidelity. It's not bad for 1945.
Nothing will ever compare with Kodachrome film.

Re: Vj day 1945 kodachrome film

Very interesting footage, and this is real "footage". I'm really impressed with how well the color held up after all those years, and good color at that.

There were quiete a few cars with rumble seats. In case anybody doesn't know what a rumble seat is, it is a fold-out seat in a two-door sedan and it fits where the trunk would be.

Woody station wagons - Wow!

Don't remember seeing any traffic lights, either, but there was a "No U-Turn" sign. You could sure tell it was a Navy town.

Did I say I can't believe how wel the color held up?

Rumble seats and no seat belts....how things have changed.

The War was finally over...that must have been one hell of a celebration. I have many B&W photos of those days, but there's nothing like seeing it "live" and in color.
