ipod-itunes and Quicktime

I got my 60gig ipod last night. I put the start up CD in my computer and then when I tried opening itunes it says "error, itunes can't open without quicktime 7.0.3 and you have 7.0.2a", I tried to download it from the apple site and it kept giving me Errors. I haven't ever had an issue with downloading anything. Can anyone shine some light on this issue??

thanks

ok I was on the phone for 5 hours yesterday with apple trying to fix this problem. Out of 5 people, not one could help me. I just bought an ipod for $500.00 and I can't use it. I think I tunes is possible the worst program out. I got to work this morning and tried to download it on my new computer and it says "download files currupt". I have had an ipod for 3 years and never an issue with downloading itunes or quicktime.

I'm a Mac guy, but really, iTunes and the iPods works great for the majority of people.

Here is my stab in the dark....

In Windows, go to your control panels and to the "add/remove programs"

Completely remove Quicktime and iTunes program from your PC and then freshly reinstall the programs from the included CD with your iPod.

i had the same problem, you have to find the stand alone quick time 7 install. Off hand i can't remember where i found it, but if you poke around these forum ( should take less then 5 hours ) http://discussions.apple.com/categor...categoryID=146 you will find your answer.

If he needs the standalone QuickTime 7 installer he can get it here: http://www.apple.com/quicktime/download/standalone.html

Wait till your iPod decides to kick the bucket then you will really know how to feel pissed at Apple.. Within 3 months of getting mine it suddenly decided it was going to randomly turn itself off, then it started locking up and wouldnt let me do anything till it ran out of battery and i could recharge.. Then sometimes it wouldnt recognise all my songs.. My friends have all got problems with theirs also.. As Neil Young would say, its a "piece of crap"!!!

Its one of the worst purchases ive ever made, in fact i think its only marginally beaten to the #1 worst by the Pinnacle DV500 card i bought in 2001.

I ring up "tech support" and i get some dude in India who doesnt speak fluent english and all he can tell me is update the software!! Its so disasterous its become funny, Im being totally screwed and theres nothing i can do..

Sorry you're having problems. Like any gadget, some people will get lemons. If you're still under warranty it will be covered. It's also worth considering AppleCare for the iPod since it covers a battery failure for 2 years. Look on Apple's website and find the nearest Apple Store; bring your iPod in and I think you will have a much better experience than phone support.

Obviously everyone doesn't feel the same as you or different models of the iPod wouldn't have been the 3 top selling items at Amazon this season, and Apple wouldn't have captured 80% of the portable music market.

I have a 20gb iPod Photo and have had zero problems.

But then, my girlfriend's stepdad went through three of them and I tried troubleshooting them. They just wouldn't detect his PC laptop but they did his PC desktop. I think he just kept on returning them until his third one magically worked properly.

I'm not bashing PC, btw, as I only use PC myself and, like I said, had no problem with mine.
