Canada Does Olympic Multimedia Bigtime

In the closing ceremonies for the Winter Olympics, Canada put on an impressive multimedia/live-action presentation. As the next host in 2010, they gave a preview of the lively culture that thrives there in spite of the permafrost landscape. With a giant sub-level projection display on the stadium floor, they put on a very imaginative show. If anyone knows anything about the technology they used or knows someone involved, it would be nice to hear about it. This was one of the few video screens on which you can run and jump without voiding the warranty.

Canadian opera star Ben Heppner gave the most rousing rendition of "Oh, Canada!" you'll ever hear. Vancouver Mayor Sam Sullivan did his part with a memorable Olympic flag-waving. What do you bet that not a single Canadian winter-sports athlete will retire, before they have a chance to compete in British Columbia?

I was tickled by the fleet of well-preserved Cinque-Centi that the Italians rolled into the show, as I once drove one of these tiny Fiats. I kept thinking that Lou Jacobs and his clown crew would burst out from one. And do you suppose that the spectacular wind-riding demonstration the Italians gave, will give rise to a new Olympic sport?

I didn't see the closing ceremonies but I went to the Canadian Pavillion at the World Expo in Nagoya, Japan last year. They had a huge mulitmedia show there as well showing all the different types of people from Canada. I'll have to look for that closing presentation and look at it, it sounds good.
