Wedding photographer pricing insanity

Check it out 875,000 for two hours
http://www.spencerstudio.com/weddings.htm

But only Canadians in Ottawa need apply.

Andy Graham June 3rd, 2006 07:14 PM

That website has to be a practical joke or somethin......he's offering "a free ballpoint pen" if you book, I mean come on you could keep your 850 grand get a regular perfectly good photographer and then buy a ballpoint pen factory with what you had left over.

And he's takin' the piss by offering a $35 discount if you think his price is too high.

You know what they say , A fool and his money are soon parted

Andy.

maybe the photographer really doesn't want to do weddings BUT for that price they'll do it in a tux ?

back in the 80-90's i never wanted to shoot video so i had a film rate and a video rate (i didn't want to come off as a film snob -which i was) .. video rate was 10K a day = i figure nobody will ever pay it and if they did i'd be glad to shoot video for 10K a day ( note: price did not include camera) ... to this day i do not shoot shoulder size SD video camera BUT for 10K a day i'll do it ...

Glenn Davidson June 3rd, 2006 07:52 PM

Those Canadians are pretty funny, ehh?

Frank Granovski June 3rd, 2006 08:00 PM

I'm a Canadian, and I laugh at myself. :-)

Maybe it's a total package deal. Could be, eh?

J. Stephen McDonald June 5th, 2006 12:20 AM

That rate is in Canadian dollars-----not so steep when you figure that into it.

It works out at £584,518 UK pounds $773,522 US dollars. You think that isn't so steap for two hours work taking pictures.....you must be a very rich man!

Andy.

Steven Davis June 5th, 2006 06:41 AM

Hmm, I think I'll add a ball point pen bonus to my packages, what a great idea! <sarcasm>

Leo Pepingco June 5th, 2006 06:53 AM

[sarcasm]who knows, it might be a really nice pen, maybe one of those refillable ones.[/sarcasm]

Bob Zimmerman June 5th, 2006 07:18 AM

His picture prices are normal. Maybe he just added a few extra zero's.

Michael Wisniewski June 5th, 2006 11:29 AM

I think Don's right, he looks like he's making a decent living doing portraits, and doesn't want to be bothered by questions about doing weddings, which explains the hint of sarcasm on that page.

David Jimerson June 5th, 2006 12:54 PM

Hint?

"Note: $850,000 is the real price, please don't call or email asking if it is. All major credit cards accepted. We realize that some of our competitors and photographers just starting out often try to undercut us, some even charging less than $350,000.00. But be warned, many of these photographers will not wear a tie to your wedding, it has often been said that seeing Robin in a tie, a sports jacket and running shoes is worth a half million dollars alone."

Steven Gotz June 5th, 2006 01:29 PM

Check out the "Robin Who" section. That pretty much answers a lot. Very funny.

Shawn Kessler June 5th, 2006 02:28 PM

weddings

just another reason why weedings are a waste of time

Hugh DiMauro June 19th, 2006 02:38 PM

For that much money Spielberg had better be directing that wedding video.
