libec 22 or 38 equiv w/no spreader? (for hiking)
I don`t like the spreaders, but from what I`ve read the libecs are good for hiking. I need a good light tripod to do hiking and filming with, but really don`t like the spreaders. Any others out there that fit the bill? I have a canon A1

Why don't you remove the spreader for your hiking and replace it when shooting on slippy floors, when it's a lot safer to have one?

from what I was told the spreaders don`t come off the libecs. Was i incorrectly informed?

Take a look at the Miller Solo tripods (DV & VJ). If you're on more of a budget, check out the Manfrotto 755 series.

I have an LS-38 and use it with an A1. The spreaders do come off. It's a great tripod, especially for the price. But, it may not be as light and compact as you want it to be for hiking. I'd suggest you check out the Gitzo GT-5530S legs

You'll be happier with the compactness and lower weight of this set up. |
