Libec T68 vs T72?

Can anybody explain to me the difference (other than price) between these two Libec tripods:

Hi Laurence....................

Well, I've given them both a quick scrute on B&H, and as far as I can tell, the difference between them is about 2/3 of 1/4 of 5/16 of sweet FA, quite frankly.

You may well find a blinding difference on the manufacturers web site, but according to B&H, see the above.

Oh, one is cheaper, but reckoned you'd figured that one out yourself.

The only significant difference I can see is that the T72 has a wider range between max and min heights:

T72: 1595mm to 550mm
T68: 1470mm to 770mm

Here's a link to Libec's European website (haven't been able to find another one)

http://www.libeceurope.com/

Info for the T68 is under the DV series LS22 package)

Infor for the T72 is under Standard Package (LS38)

Hope this helps

Is it possible that B&H may be a bit mixed up?.

The T68 seems to be the two-stage one that comes with the LS-22 and the T72 seems to be the one that comes with the LS-38, which has a higher load capacity - so, logically,t he T68 may be more lightweight.

Information on Libec tripod kits is kind of hard to come across, so I could be wrong. It took me ages to track down a mid level spreader for my LS-37 tripod because they are just a little vague on this sort of thing.

Edit: Nick just beat me to it while I was typing!

Ah yes. You must be right. One is heavier duty and B&H just got the specifications a little mixed up.

The T68 is a one stage tripod where as the the T72 is a two stage tripod. If you look at the legs carefully you'll see the difference. The T72 would be a little more stable at full height and shold be able to handle a heavier load. According to B&H both tripods extend to same maximum height. It's hard to double check that since Libec doesn't have much info about these legs on their site.
