Need to replace Bogen 525MVB Sticks

Does anyone have a good suggestion for replacing my Bogen 525MVB tripod sticks. they're sliding to much when I put my Ikegami HL-DV7AW on them. the whole camcorder setup with batteries, wireless and Frezzi light is around 16 lbs. When I first got the 525MVB they slid just a little bit, but they always slid to a specific point then stopped so I could easily adjust for the difference. now they slide unevenly on 2 of the 3 legs and slide as much as 4 inches! So I was thinking of getting a new set of tripod legs with a 75mm bowl, so I could just dropping my Bogen 501 head on to the new sticks. Any suggestions. I like the fact that the Bogen 525MVB has spreaders and is fairly light weight. In these economic times lets remember I'm not Warren Buffet so though I understand all those $2000+ legs are great I want to keep it under $1000. if possible.

hmmmm, I've use the 525s with setups that weight a lot more than 16 lbs, so it sounds like the locks may be a bit loose. Take an allan wrench (hex head) wrench and try tightening up the hex bolts on the back side of the locks. Don't over do though as you risk the chance of breaking something or not being able to snap the locking lever.

Thanks that's a great idea I'll give it a try right now.

Don, it worked! I tightened the allen head nuts on the back of each tripod lock, with the clips already in locked position. that way I couldn't over tighten them. And found that two the allen head nuts were very loose even with the clips in the locked postion. Now I can play around with the tension until it's perfect. Thanks.
