Getting ready to buy DS-10 (#830) at B&H - help!
Hi everyone,
I'm getting ready to buy a Miller DS-10 at B&H - can anyone confirm my choice? I have a JVC HD10U camera - about the same size as PD150 and XL1S. I plan to buy the most expensive one they have on their site - with the "on the ground" speader. Is this the best choice? Thanks very much for your opinion! Murph |
Well, it is a FANTASTIC tripod, i won't argue there but might be overkill.
I would test first, i have used the ds-5 with my dvx-100 many times and it is well more than enough and hands down the best tripod i have used. (other than the extraordinarly expensive pro stuff on large film rigs) The ds-5 may be easily enough for your needs without compromising performance, the ds-10 is aimed more at heaver/larger cameras. I agree. Go with the DS5---even that's a bit overkill.

Me too. I have the DS-5 and use it with a VX-2000 and PDX-10, it's terrific. Also consider whether you really want to spend the extra money on the carbon tripot. I have the black aluminum model and it really isn't that heavy. Cost me about $800.

Hi everyone, the reason I was looking at the DS-10 was for overloading when I buy a matte box. I've also been told to make sure that you can grow into your tripod, so you can upgrade your camera a few times over the years without running into weight issues.
Does anyone know if the DS-5 can handle a fully loaded HD10u? It's rated for 10 pds., but I'm worried it will have problems if I load it up with gear. Thanks so much for your input guys!! Murph |
Update, I just bought a DS-5 and Porta-Brace case!
Thanks to everyone who helped me with my choice. Murph |
