any objections to the TH 650
 

It has the fluid head, quick release, the level ball underneath and gets fairly high. its for an AGDVX100. For around 175. Nice price and all the stuff im looking for ain a tripod.....any problems I should know about?

It's a low cost tripod and will give mediocre results at best. If you are using a DVX100 and spent that kind of money on a camera, you should spend more than $175 to do your camera justice. The use of 24p requires very smooth and slow pans or the footage will look poor. I would look to at least doubling your budget, to get a marginally acceptable Bogen (search the threads for models). I good tripod that could last a lifetime would be in the $800 and up range.

I have the libec and wish I'd have bought something else. It was my first ball leveling head so I found that is an absolute must have but the action is just ok at best. My el cheapo velbon is smoother at pans and tilts that the libec.

Well, I just bought one and I'm actually quite happy with it. I bought it for my DVC80. Sure, it's not as good as an $800 tripod, but I think it has as much bang for the buck as just about anything out there. It really depends on what you will be using it for.

I bought the 650 a year ago because of the HEAVY reccomendations by users on this board. Now I bought a dvx100a and I must admit since my standard of quality has gone up, it's become a little tougher to get the best possible results from this tripod. You have to go into like a ZEN state to do a long smooth pan. I'm kind of upset because I bought this thing thinking it would take me through all my prosumer camera purchases but it really only stood up to my first (DV852). So while there's no problems with it, as a DVX user, you may require a higher level of performance than it has to offer......
