Help? PD170 - Manfrotto/Bogen 161MK2b Monster.. or not?

Howdy.
Is this like mating an ape to a chimp?

I haven't seen the 161MK2b first hand, but the specs paint a heavy, awkward bulk of a picture..
I'm wondering if any users have opinions on the tripod or compatability with a PD170. (thing is I can get it or the 075B or 028 used and dirt cheap)

pro's-con's..
Opinions please?

Many thanks.

Is that an older model, I can't find any reference to it on the manfrotto website.

Hi, thanks for replying.

It's a current model.. definately there.
3258 is Bogen (usa) code. and 161mk2b is the product/manfrotto code.
just do a search.
or: http://db.manfrotto.com/product/search_result.php3

As I said, I can get it really cheap. And am advised it's in good condition.
I suppose if it's too cumbersome/impractical, I can always re-sell it and purchase a more appropriate tool from profits (hopefully).

Then again there's an 028 going dirt cheap.. and the 075B mentioned..
what to do.

Anyone used these legs?

Thanks

ps.. apologies for what was evidently an inappropriately positioned post.

They look good to me, I don't think they would be too big.

Just for the record I am using the 028 (3046) sticks with a 501 video head with my PD170 and think it's a great combination. So if you can get the 028 legs for a good price, I wouldn't hesitate to get them.

I've used the 161Mk2 and the least that i can say is that it's very sturdy.
Even when used at the highest position you wouldn't have to worry. Only problem then would be to find something to stand on for yourself if you want to control the camera.

And of course if you have to drag it around all day, you get a free training in powerlifting. It's heavier than most legs, and taller when collapsed.

Thanks all!

I missed the opportunity.. I think it's time to head to ebay.
