Slider on single tripod

Hi all,

I've been Googling for about an hour without much luck.

Basically I want to buy a lightweight, relatively short slider that I can use on my Manfrotto 701 head with my NEX-EA50.

Is there any slider length that the head will support by itself? I want to avoid having to use 2 tripods. Has anyone had any luck with this?

I should mention that I have a decent Glidetrack slider already. I just want something else that's easy to carry around and mount quickly.

Thanks in advance for any info.

Have you considered the Edelkrone Slider Plus V2? There isn't as much mass hanging over one side as a traditional slider.

That looks perfect.. unfortunately a bit out of my price range at the moment.

Thanks though, very interesting product

Ok THAT looks good. Seems expensive for what it is.. but the size/weight is perfect.

If you think that is expensive... I own a Kessler, mine cost about $1100

I'm skeptical you can move very far off center (less than 10" I'd think) with an EA50 before your tripod wants to move. I had a 3' slider with Manfrotto 701HDV on top (Sachtler FSB-4 underneath) and could not go very far with a stripped down EX1r (it's been years so it's hard to remember). You have to add the weight of a small head to the camcorder. Post results. I'm interested what length slider/head you are successful with and how heavy your rig is.

Just dragging this up again. I'm about to pull the trigger and buy the Cinevate Duzi, but still skeptical that my Tripod is going to handle the weight.

I use the Manfrotto 701HDV head on a set of very sturdy legs.

Has anyone tried using a small slider on a single tripod with a similar setup? Any success? Or is 2 tripods really the only way to go with larger cameras like the EA50?

I use a Konova K3 slider on a 701 w/ my legs (i don't recall them at the moment)... the 701 isn't a very sturdy head.

I much prefer using it on my 501/3251 head/leg combo as it is significantly more sturdy (weighing in around 20 pounds vs <10 pounds for the 701 combo)

how long is the Cinevate Duzi? Trust me, 2 feet is all you need if you know how to use a slider. Ask Cinevate if the Duzi can hold that camera first.

It's a 2 foot slider.

And yeah I have asked Cinevate but haven't heard back yet. Their customer service seems to be lacking.

Just a quick update: I received my Cinevate Duzi today. It's incredibly smooth - so much smoother than my Glidetrack HD Hybrid.

It works nicely on my Manfrotto 701 head with my Sony EA50. The slider tilts very slightly at the ends but it's not too bad at all... definitely very useable.
