Gitzo 1380 springs

Do the 6 springs come with this head or do you have to buy ala carte?
Also any preference for Gitzo or Miller carbon fibre 75mm bowl legs? Miller is rated up to 44lbs load. Gitzo only 26.50lbs. How is leg action?

thanks,

chris

In "most" cases the springs are included with the head, but it would be wise to double-check with your particular dealer.

I, however, cannot speak about the CF legs. I use the very heavy 3181s for my rig.

I've been looking at the same options. The Gitzo (G-1325V) sticks are 4.5 lb, max height of 59.1" and the lower load rating, as you noted. The Miller sticks (DV Solo, 1501) weigh 5.5 lb, max height of 63.5" and the higher load rating. A couple of other things: 1. the Gitzo has an option for a 100mm bowl - so theoretically you could use something like a Cartoni Focus head. 2. you have to manually pull out the legs on the Gitzo because of the suction caused by very tight tolerances, the Miller just drops down, which is quicker.

Personally, I'm leaning towards Gitzo because I'd like to save the pound in weight, but there are obviously several trade-offs to consider.

Not sure about the springs - I thought you had to buy the head with a specific spring, and optional springs cost $20. or so.
