2/3 Sensor Mult factor

Hi guys
Just a quick question someone may be able to clear up. With a 1/3 sensor the mult factor is 7.2 when using 35mm film lenses. So what is the mult factor when considering 2/3 chips? There mult be a formula I guess but I haven't been able to find anything?

Mat,

what a great question.

sense it is twice as big would it cut it down to 3.6?

Or does it reduce 7.2 by a third which makes it 4.824?

Probably something totally different. Waiting to hear on this one too!!

I believe you divide the 35mm diagonal measurement by the diagonal measurement of the ccd being used to get the crop factor.
eg 43.3(35mm)/11(2/3)= 3.9
eg 43.3(35)/6(1/3)= 7.2

Cheers Gordon, thats interesting. Am I being a bit dull if I ask where the ccd numbers have come from?

Mat not at all. This dicussion has a link to a site that seems to agree with what they came up with.

then 1/2 inch cam gives 5.5 mult. factor with same calculation.

alkim.

Hi Alkim. I believe it's around 5.4.
