White Balance and Heavy Overcast/Marine Layer

I have a Canon HV20, and I have noticed that when I shoot footage offshore in my boat and it's heavily overcast, that I get occasional momentary shifts in white balance. That is, everything goes slightly red for a split second, then it corrects.

I am shooting in HD / cine mode / 24P. This happens whether I use AWB or use a preset like Overcast. Is this maybe something related to the CMOS and the lighting conditions and the camera mode? The camera does great in sunny conditions with AWB and these settings.

Something's hunting in there. This is why I lock the WB. I have an HV10, HV30 and an XH A1, plus some other SD cams. I always manually WB. Takes just a second and will solve the problem
