commercial use of XL2 wildlife footage

I'd be interested in hearing from others shooting wildife with the XL2 as to which markets they have sold into.

Will, for example, National Geographic or the Discovery Channel except footage from the XL2?

Hi Andy,

Your question is really asking, will those channels accept DV-originated material. Whether or not is was originated on DV doesn't have much of a bearing. They use good, clean DV all the time, sometimes it isn't even all that good or clean. They don't even have to know it was shot on DV. Is the material compelling, is it shot well and worthy of viewing, and can you get those channels interested in what you have to show. That's what matters. Hope this helps,

This is similar to a reply I received from a stock agency. I've also read that it is possible to convert from DV to HDV. Is this a better option?

Standard definition material continues to be viable for those channels and I don't expect that to change anytime soon. I think the only thing you should convert to is whatever format they may prefer... be it Beta SP or DigiBeta or whatever.
