Hi

Alittle video clip on a Kingfisher killing a prey, the video is a little bit blur due to the hard difficulty to focus during record. But the action is here. Picture taken in the center of France during a hide after waiting 15 minutes.

Hi Gilles, great behaviour captured !
Nice colours and I like the natural settings. Agree it looks slightly soft but still interesting. A shorter clip of 1-2 minutes with the best parts can be even more effective IMO.

Nice record of behaviour, yes, but the focus is way off (focus seems locked on background instead of subject). Did you use AF? In this situation MF should be used and there shouldn't be any problems maintaining manual focus on the kingfisher when it is perched on a static branch like shown in the clip. Kingfishers will often return again and again to the exact same perch, and also follow similar flight routes each day.
Hides can be used, but if you are in one place long enough, the kingfishers will quickly become accustomed to you without the need of a hide.

The problem is to obtain a good focus with the small display, in HS & HD mode you cannot correct manually during record.

I try with a monitor but you cannot record if a monitor is connected.

In AF mode the autofocus "pump" perpetually, i used the two modes, AF and MF in AF mode the focus seems to be affected by the front light, i think to try again and again.

Exact the Kingfisher is well accustomed with the hide and it come visit and observe me through a hole with the fish and eat the prey on the hide, i'm a little bit frustrated by this mocking attitude.

Remember the deff is only VGA.
