FX1 underwater Jellyfish clip.

For those that would like a look.

I have loaded up a new 60 sec underwater clip of an Lions Mane Jelly Fish.
Go here http://www.ningalooreefteach.com/FX1.htm and scroll down abit.

The larger 200 meg clips on the site are still out of action for a few more days due to bandwidth use.

On another note, I did a dive the other day to 18 meters and the FX1 still managed to white balance down there without any special filter. Something normal 3 CCD MNI DV camera's could never do past like 5-6 meters!!

Enjoy

Wow, thanks Paul...

So how compressed is this, and how does it compare to the video straight out of the camera?

Beautiful.

Jelly Fish clip

That jelly fish clip is compressed abit, the raw footage is stunning on my 17 inch LCD Screen runnig at 1880/1024.
4500. Mbps. 720x 520 was the ratio.

Glad you liked it, I'm starting to get a large collection of material now with the FX1 underwater. On fast quick pans / camera movement under the water you can see the quality drops abit, but on marine life moving fast it's fine. Just when the camera is moved fast, like up down, left right.

After lots of testing, there is no way you can zoom in when editing in HDV as it drops the quality. Even with Cineforms Aspect HD, must be the water particles or thicker medium.

I have also started to load up the hundreds of pics we have shot with the Nikon D70. You can go here and view them. http://www.ningalooreefteach.com/pictures/page1.htm
We want to keep a track on who can view the larger pics, so you will have to send me an email for the password get access to them

I don't know if you were talking about these videos, but I really enjoyed them. Fantastic underwater life videos !

Many of these scenes put my mind at ease when it comes to Sony FX1/Z1 and complex scenes with lots of scattered motion. The fish aren't moving too quickly, and it's hard to tell if the motion blur/jitter (easy to see on large patterned fish) is due to the 25p or WMV compression artifacts.

Second all comments! Underwater filming not only require good camera skills and equipment but also diving skills. You do a great job Paul!
