Panasonic AG-AC 160 Wildlife Test Clip
 

I sold all of my Canon cameras, lens, and accessories and purchased a Panasonic Ag-Ac 160. I shot this short video with the Ag-Ac 160 clip today. Conditions were poor, with fading light, wind, and mixed snow and rain. I noticed later that some of the shots where taken with some moisture on the lens from blowing snow.

All the close-up bird shots were made with the 22x lens set at maximum zoom.

720 60p
Shutter Speed 1/30 (No 1/60 setting in 720 60p)
All settings were on manual except for auto focus. I need auto focus due to poor aging eyesight.
No color correction

Did you try the 2x Digital Zoom? It is said that this is the first digital zoom whith an acceptable quality. What do you think?

The video below was filmed using the 2x digital zoom with the "on" position on 100% of the time. Judge for yourself.

Like most very long lenses, the Panasonic 22x seems to degrade at it's fully extended focal length. Somewhere around the 20x. The 2x seems to work well up to that point. I 'm living in an area that receives over 200 inches of precipitation per year, and all of my very long shots are always effected by the humidity, or by moisture build-up on the lens. I used the 2x digital zoom on the above close-up shots also. Which really impressed me.

The video above was shot at "high noon". We are now down to less than 3 hours of sunlight per day, and any kind of filming is limited to clear weather only. Which happens about twice a week! Fortunately for me 80% of all my shooting is within walking distance of my house.
