They Eat In The Winter Too

The weather cleared enough for me to film this short video near my home in Sitka Alaska. With only 2-3 hours of usable daylight, I was still able to find a few creatures out and about looking for a meal. Filmed with a Panasonic Gh2. 100-300mm lens. Sanity_5 Hack.

Nice film!
I really like the close up shots of the eagle.

Nice shots David. Have you ever checked out the bald eagle festival in Haines?

No I haven't visited the Chilkat River in Haines Mark. However, this month the thousands of Bald Eagles that have been wintering near Haines, are in the process of flying over to us in Sitka.

It's not well known, nor advertised, that the Bald Eagles in Southeast Alaska, also congregate in the Sitka area in March-April for the Annual Pacific Herring Spawning Run. I always wanted to spend time in Haines, but that never happened. Due to health problems related to a chronic neurological disease, I am now limited physically and financially to travel very far.

Enjoy your passion while you are young and healthy.

Thanks guys.

I'm living proof that even someone with limited mobility and financial resources can still enjoy filming wildlife/nature. It's a great hobby, and most of all, it's an activity that helps a person remain active. Plus, according to my wife, it's an activity that get's me out of her hair.
