Endangered Species-Sanderling (Calidris alba)

Last week I spotted my first Endangered Species. I understand that the Sanderling (Calidris alba) is now classified as a endangered species on the coastal beaches of California, Oregon, and Washington. I spotted this little guy running with a bunch of Black Turnstones and Lesser Sandpipers. This is the first Sanderling that I have ever seen. I understand that the Sanderling inhabits the grassy sand dunes of the West Coast, and then migrates north to the Tundra to mate, and rear their young.

Thanks Woody. My old 9 year old computer finally died,so I'm out of the loop until I can scrap something up. Or may be it's finally time to give it up and move on......all things have a beginning, and all things have an end.

David you can’t move on. If it wasn’t for David Rice I would never had heard of Sitka and its wildlife or the sea otters at the grocery store let alone know why we need all this stuff.
