How to film an eclipse?

Does anyone have any experience of filming an eclipse?

I'll be travelling to see a total eclipse in Northern Uganda later this year, and I am just wondering is it worth bothering to try and film it? Any special filters needed?

What about the transition from the partial to the total (and back again) - presumably you cant film both without changing filters? The total eclipse will only be about 20 seconds long.

The biggest lens I have is a Sigma 400mm telephoto for a 5dmk3. I also have an XLH1 with a 20x HD lens (which is pretty good for filming wildlife). Not sure if these will have the reach needed though.
