Lenses for underwater

Which lense is better for underwater shooting. A .5x wide angle or a .7x wide angle?

Thanks
Chris

The wider the better.... but it depends.

First off, the wide angle adapter has to be of high enough quality to provide a clean, crisp image to start off. Barrrel distortion also becomes an issue with the wider adapters.

Then the housing needs to be designed to accomodate that adapter without vignetting or causing loss of sharpness at the edges. That may or may not mean the need for a dome port.

The .7x is a Canon WD58-h but the .5x is the lense supplied with an Equinox Pro Pak 8 housing. I had a cheap Tokina wide angle, .45x, and it had terrible vignetting and poor picture quality. So I ended up getting the Canon lense. Thanks for your reply
