Dipper (video)
Hi,
Short clip of a dipper. All comments are welcome. Size 17 MB, save to hard disk before viewing. http://www.riitti.net/videot/Koskikara.mov Edit: Clip reloaded to web. Little color correction for the later part of the clip, blues cast removed from 1:40 position. Last scene should have warm cast because of the last rays of sun. |
Hi Juha,
I liked your film. Dippers are lovely birds but sometimes they move to fast. I noticed that a couple of the pans were not as smooth as they should be. There was also a point at 1:20 where there was a big colour change that could be corrected. Over-all: beauty scenery and some lovely shots. Are you going to try to get some shots of them walking underwater? Grant |
Thank you Juha.
You had fun editing it and I enjoyed watching it 4 times. Did you slow things down slightly between 1.30 and 1.40. The ripples on the water seemed incredibly relaxed during that slot. The overall impact on me was one of serenity even with the dipper fidgeting madly. Per Johan Naesje's style must be contagious or is it just the snowy setting! |
Very beautiful, thank you for sharing your work.

Great stuff fella, some lovely footage in there. How cool would it be to cut to an 'underwater' shot in this.
The dipper is on my list of subjects for the next year....great little bird! What camera, lens was this shot on by the way ?? |
Juha,
Thanks for sharing your video, I am wondering what camera you were using? As to the last shot in the video, you maybe are able to cut out the unsteady pan and put a dissolve between the shots. I love the stills and beaver video on your homepage. In my opinion the Beaver video would have looked better if you had kept all the "Warm" sky shots together. Congratulations Bob |
Thank you for you kind words. Now some answers.

Hello Juha!
Very peaceful movie - I really liked it. Thanks for sharing. :-D Regards, Oliver |
Juha, beautiful shoots of the Dipper.
Second what have been said about the editing, but overall impression is stunning! Thanks for sharing :-) You should participate in the UWOL-challenge Juha? |
Juha,
Beautiful footage. I was struck by the "black and white" aspect of some of the scenes. The colors of the late sun sky (seen on the rippling waters) eventually prevail at the end. Very interesting little birds. Seems you have the patience and passion to capture a bit of their lives to share with us. Thanks! j. |
Interesting little birds. Quite peaceful overall. Thanks for posting this.
