After suffering the agonizing defeat of trying to film a birth I was moping around the porch at Starbucks when inspiration struck. Right there on the side of the coffe cup, "The Way I See It", was staring me in the face. The quote used in the piece came from that cup.

We have always been involved in supporting children from youth sports for 14 years to now charity work for Hibiscus Childrens Center, an abused childrens facility. This coupled with Kevin's post about shooting with passion helped inspire combining both the theme and helping a worthy cause.

Although a non competitive entry, one of the key clips is stock, this project took on a whole new focus for me.

I'm curious about what kind of NLE your are using and if this is made up of a kind of template?
I'll maybe adopt it for use in a demo reel I'm working on!

No template. Used After Effects for most of the work, Vegas for all the video color correction and audio.

Excellent and professional effects. Recognized After Effects signatures in this one since that is my home turf, but am very impressed. I can tell that for the short amount of time this clip is... I know it took weeks to put this into place.

I would have liked to see it developed a bit more, but the message is loud and clear and a very interesting twist to the theme of mammals.

10 for 10 on special effects. I tell you, that AE software opens up the universe does it not?

When I first signed up for these uwol challenges I was wondering how to get a message across in 3 minutes and 60 mb.Well you have done more than just that.Short and to the point and brilliant editing.Well done

Thanks again. As I developed the idea I figured I would donate it to Hibiscus House for use as a PSA. So I was kind of constrained to 30 sec. I would have liked to use all 45 minutes of the jaguar footage, but I am sure I will find a use for it.

Yes, your editing skills are simply amazing!
You really create some professional looking material, after checking out your UWOL entries to date.
Very strong message Jim. It is always upsetting to be reminded that life is like this for some people. Sounds like you are doing what you can to help out where you can, and for that, I truly commend your efforts.
Cat was saying that this would have taken you weeks to complete. Is that true?

This was short but powerful. Not only in the amazing special effects, but the footage itself. Whether it was yours or stock, you put it together very effectively, which is what really matters.

This would make a great PSA, because it grabs attention first, and then delivers the message.

I'm seriously going to consider getting AE after seeing this.

I've been working with kids for almost five years now and some of them, well they should have been in better homes.

Great piece of work and the message is clear.
A bit short though but I guess thats the whole idea behind such a type of film. It's the message that matters something you've managed to get through and I support your message.

Ok, this is the last film today I will follow up the others tomorrow.

Nice and different in terms of the edit for uwol which is always good to see, keeps everyone fresh and promotes some different thinking. Its a strong message and nicely voiced with your pictures. I would have liked the main message to have been delivered in a more dynamic way than just a text block especially with the way you've done everything else.
