UWOL #1: "Business" by Randy Allen

Well there it is. After 2 or 3 failed attempts at the DVC, I finally got one done. I know its a little rough, but I thought it was pretty good. I already know what one of the comments will be but I like the out of focus shots that come into focus. After sleeping on it a night though I think I may have used it a little too much.

Anyway I had a lot of fun doing this. There is one thing in paticular that if I had started sooner I would have liked to have done which would have involved faking up some business at the camera it self. I may go back and do it anyway, just for the fun of it.

Shot using a stock GL-2 both on a tripod and hand held.

Thanks for watching.

you guys get up awfully early! randy, add a direct link to your video in your feedback thread. it will help your viewers...

Get up early?!?!?!

Why I get more done in the first three hours......wait that was my father's line not mine. I do have the advantage of being in Georgia so we do get up a couple of hours before you.

Humour

I like your sense of humour :-)
And I wonder awhile: "What business"?
But then in the end...
Well, we all have a car I guess, and now and than we have to pay the carwasher :-)
Good work!

Very funny. I liked the juxtaposition of birds as slightly sinister with the humor of their- and your- business. Made me smile!

Thanks.....

Thank you all for the kind words and support. If it made you smile at the end then my goal was achieved.

Randy,

I've been in some of those large blackbird roots looking for the raptors they usually attract, so I can fully appreciate the magnitude of "business" they generate! Good effort...I enjoyed the humor.

Randy,

What an ending! I laughed out load. :)

I totally thought you were going somwhere else with it. :)

Your goal was achieved! :)

I'm glad you got in in the challenge!

Cody Lucido January 23rd, 2007 08:23 PM

That was the single longest montage of bird poop I have ever seen. Congrats!

Made me laugh. Cheers!

Thanks guys. This has really been fun getting all this feedback.

"What an ending! I laughed out load. :)" -Kevin

The actual ending took me 10 or so tries to do the voice over. The original idea was to have some falling bomb sounds at the begining and then slowly reveal that it was not mechanical bombs at the end. So the line that the car wash owners were happy was supposed to be dull and lifeless like the rest of the VO. When I thought of making the narrator the owner of the car wash it made me laugh and I could not get the VO without clipping it.

That was uproariously funny ... wife and I laughed and laughed again. The lean script was delivered with exactly the right amount of deadbeat to set up the ending which you kept hidden until that last moment. On top of everything else Randy you're a storyteller.

Great surprise ending. Very funny.

hi randy: i'm restricted from commenting on quality, but i'm just popping in to say that i'm really happy that you showed up to play and that you finished. it's always a nice feeling to get the job done...much better than sitting on the sidelines watching everyone else have all the fun.
