Uwol 14 symbiotic cycles
 

Good afternoon, evening or morning;


Well, I almost did not make this round. Ideas were all to grand and I could not get my head around producing anything in three minutes!! I did the water cycle back in uwol 6 or so; hence that idea was out. I left out a lot of possible voiceover to allow the viewer to connect to the interrelationships on their own. Do not know if I was succesful or not. There are a huge number of cycles to hunt for through it. Hope it is enjoyed for what it is worth.

Oh yea, I recorded AN IMPROVISED VERSION of "listen to the rythym of the falling rain" but could not get a good enough recorded version to not abuse ones ears (way to tinny on the trebles).

Hey Dale,
I liked the really slick in and out of the water compositions. I also liked those bumblebee and eastern kingbird shots. I did think that the waterfall sounds were a little hot in the mix in a couple of places. Very pretty shots and nice editing. Congratulations.

Some great and colorful shots you have there, and the same about choice of topic.
There’s only one thing I will mention, and that’s the soundtrack.
Maybe the mix could have been adjusted a bit more? To make a better balance between the music, water and narration? Just a thought.
I failed with my own soundtrack in this round, and made it all too low.

i'm digging your macro work, really seems to be helping you with focus issues. agree the soundtrack needed some adjustments.

i like the imminent cat threat. funny how we can make our loving, benign pets look like threats just by juxtaposing the images.

What a nice video. I really liked the opening and closing sequence coming into and out of the water. How did you shoot that sequence?

The little bit with the bee on the flower at 0:41 was nice.

Did you use a polarizer when you shoot the fish?

Lovely colours and composition. It really looked good. Loved the opening shot coming from the water. Wasn't sure what you were trying to do with the pan away from the cat?

I bet your glad all that snow has gone, and now your film “Symbiotic Cycles” Rising from the murky deeps into sunshine, to see brightly Coloured flowers and warm winds,.
Only one observation was the cat to pigeon shot, it may have been better as a fade cut.

we had exactly the same word in the opening narrating - Water!

As others have already told you the soundtrack need to be improved, but I think you´re on the right track. Some more small adjustments and you will be there soon, Dale!

I liked your colorful opening and ending sessions. Very creative done!

The bumble bee was also nice.

Been away at Deaf camp all week, home feeding the critters, check the list and head back for the remaining four days, will respond to others entrys when I return.


thank you for the articulate responses., I appreciate it and agree with all the comments. More to work on.

I need to be more patient and work harder at my audio for certain, finding a balance between all the tracks is always a challenge for me.

The pan was from the cat who was pretending to ignore the pigeons to the pigeon seeing the cat move and flash away, preadtion at the pond side. the pigeons are pretty wise to the cat and quite jumpy at the pond edge.

I shot the under water sequence with my gl2 ( In a plastic sealed tube), the rest was shot with the xlh1. I used both a telephoto and the standard lens.

well, there is always more to work on, Dale, but you have come a long way since your early entries and you should be proud of your progress. i don't know anyone who works harder....
