Uwol 15.5 DIY sign up thread

good evening.

This UWOL challenge theme is "A day in the life".

Because this is our do it yourself challenge you actually get the theme first. It certainly is broad enough for anyone to tackle.

I am really looking forward to this version and everyones rendition.

OK Dale...I'm in...

So what is the deadline?

And...are there any format rules, or is it a "let's just put them on youtube and go"...?

Bill Thesken February 19th, 2010 08:18 PM

I'm in. Wow, my idea for a theme IS the theme. I had envisioned a one day shoot for this theme, not sure if that is a requirement as it might be easier to take snippets as they come and paste them together. Still it would be very challenging to put together a compelling film with just one day of footage. I'm going for it!

Kevin Railsback February 19th, 2010 09:28 PM

I'm in. Congrats on suggesting the theme Bill

Let's make it interesting

I don't know if any sponsors are watching and willing to throw down some sweet prizes, and by my estimation, thousands of people watch these events. Since it's an unofficial DIY competition, how bout if every competitor kicks in $7,or a $7 gift certificate from the last sponsor of the challenge (Guy Cochran's company DVCreators.Net?)
Winner take all.

Geir Inge February 20th, 2010 01:43 AM

I'm in.

As to prizes I'm not in for the money thing.
Transfering money between countries isn't that easy as it sounds and it cost too :)
Also I think such matters should be discussed in advance.

If any sponsor will give their share? Applauds!

I respectfully withdraw the money challenge. It was the mutant Viking/Riverboat Gambler gene speaking.
I'm all for the bragging rights for this challenge.
Speaking of which, where is the most recent champ Chris Barcellos ?

Hi

Count me in for my first challenge

Mick

Trond Saetre February 20th, 2010 03:43 AM

I am in for sure!

Rules:
I'd say we follow the standard UWOL rules as always.
And upload to youtube and/or vimeo.
(if we can't upload to the uwol site)

Mick Jenner February 20th, 2010 03:51 AM

Hi,

I know this is my first challenge, but the upload to vimeo or youtube would seem the easiest route for uploading

I'll give it a try. If people are going to upload to video hosting sites they won't be able to use the standard UWOL file size and name. This is a detail we should get sorted quickly. I'll just host my own- assuming I can finish!

Dale Guthormsen February 20th, 2010 09:59 AM

Rules:

Standard UWOL Rules:

Generally everyone always hosts a better version than the 60 mgabyte version:

We will have a hosting thread and all finishers will post their link by Midnight Monday March 22nd.

If Meryem thinks they should go on the web site we can render a 60 mb version.

Sounds like fun.

Annie Haycock February 20th, 2010 12:54 PM

I'm in.

At least, I'll see what I can do. I'm in Scotland, having a taste of arctic conditions (at least, to me they are arctic) on a still photography workshop. But I've got the video camera with me, and maybe I can do something next week.

Ben Robbins February 20th, 2010 01:55 PM

I'll give it a shot.

Any other rules specific to the UWOL challenge that I should know about?
