UC20 Sunlight on Brazos Bend

After several dips in the shark tank, I finally made my first entry shot with my Sony HXR-NX5U.

This video was shot at Brazos Bend State Park in Needville, TX.

Shot at 1920x1080 30p FX (24Mbps) using x.v. gama.

Rendered with Sony Vegas Pro 10.0c.
Audio: 320 Kbps, 48,000 Hz, 32 Bit, Stereo, AAC
Video: 29.970 fps, 1920x1080 Progressive, YUV, 20 Mbps
Pixel Aspect Ratio: 1.000

I couldn't figure out how to render at 428x240 from Sony Vegas so I use Handbreak to down convert.

Hi Victor. When I read the title of your video it brought a great big smile! I have an idea for a story that I think would be well suited for a UC piece. It would require some shooting at Brazos Bend. I was really hoping Cat would serve us up a theme suited to that story and then the next day I would be off for the park. When the theme was “Light” I was off in a different direction. I think it would have been a real hoot to have run into you and then realized we were both shooting for a Challenge! Given the nature of public land in Texas, it is probably just a matter of time until we cross trail and I look forward to that. You’ve really done a splendid job of conveying the essence of Brazos Bend. My only suggestion is perhaps a wide angle habitat shot from the observation tower. I never would have thought to use that music. I really like it and I thinks it fits very well. Which SmartSound album is it off of? Congratulations on a very enjoyable video.

Great images in your film. Look like the 5U is a pretty decent nature camera ?

A really stunning assortment of wildlife, in all kinds of light. I enjoyed the trip through the park, and the soundtrack gave it a whimsical tropical feel. Very nice effort.

Victor, some really crisp shots. Great detail. The music is a great fit for those images, sort of southern swampy hip. I have vegas also and to render different sizes: in the first render window next to template, click custom and then in the custom settings window click onto the frame size box, click on custom frame size, and then you can input whatever sizes you want.

Hi Victor:

Ooooh, those Crocs! I think the signature visual in this amazing montage of wildlife video is the slow zoom out from the crocodile head barely distinguishable in camouflage to the full length of it's body. Very effective. Hopefully you have a good telephoto? That looked dangerously close and they can move fast.

The music made me want to run barefoot through an open wildflower field in summer :) I thought the choice livened things up nicely.

Glad to have you on dry land and not swimming with the sharks this round!

Victor,

Vary nice images!! the aligator and the common gallinue were definitely my favorites!!

Music, I very much enjoyed the music and thought it suited the "Almost" tropic element of your video.

In sony Vegas highlight your time line, go to "Render as", select Mainconcept MP4, go to custom, on that window, where it shows your Frame size, like 1440x1080, click on the arrow select custom, type in your size, field order progressive, deinterlace with interpolate., or blend if you have no real high action like birds flying. Set your bit rate.

you are ready to go. it is really quite easy. Once you have one the size and resolution you like then make a uwol preset and then in the future you just click on it and you are on the way!! I also have a second preset for full Hd and vimeo best. Really cuts the time down in the future.

I very much enjoyed you work, thank you for taking the time and participating!!!!
