UWOL#44 "A night with Aurora" by Geir Inge B. Brekke

Several times I have attempted to photograph time laps from the Northern Lights, or Aurora Borealis as it is also called.
A few times I have succeeded, most times I have gone home with unforeseen sake.
Clouds, a lot of wind or strong moonlight are my worst enemies.
When we reached the deadline, I did not have much to show.
The deadline was extended, and it allows me to deliver a little cut, anyway.
To photograph the northern lights is lonely, cold and dangerous (if you're afraid of the dark like me, haha).
That's life, as we say in Uwol.

Beautiful. My latitude is too far south to experience first-hand, this so I appreciate the effort you put into it.

Hei Geir Inge,

Nice effects when the northern light is mixed with some clouds. It's a spectacular view to see that dancing show in the sky.

Thanks Chris.
Yes, the northern lights are amazing to look at.
Too bad it's so hard to catch.
Well, we had some nights with rarely strong northern lights.
It was about 6 - 7 kp, then it is well visible all the way down to Germany.
I was out several nights to catch the northern lights, but due to the cloudy there was no catch.
Then I was lucky and got a clear sky one night.
This was the result.

Trond: Thank you for commenting my film. Yes the cloudy weather made some great visuals ;)

Geir,

Wow! The northern lights have been on my bucket list for a while now!

Your film shows that magic still exists in life and encourages me to get out more when the KP is high. Usually we don’t see them this far South in Iowa except for a few nights a year.
Thanks for sharing the beauty of the aurora!

Geir, there is some great colour in the lights you've captured. And it looks like there was a lot of cloud at times making it hard to get just the Aurora. A little bit adds texture, but I think we share in the frustration of weather not being helpful. It's great to watch - hoping to see the Southern Lights one night if it gets to KP6 or more - although maybe only the camera will pick that up at -38 latitude.
I can only imagine how cold it gets.
Thanks for sharing, and hopefully you get some more cloud free chances to film one day/night.
