Broadcast monitor (HD) for 4500USD
Outputting from the NLE via a break out box, can accomodate HD-SDI or component out connection.
What would be recommended for color grading HD output for 4500USD budget? Please list your selections and why you would go for what you picked. Many thanks! |
anyone? Is a sony TV like: Sony - BRAVIA XBR 55" Class 1080p 120Hz Flat-Panel LCD HDTV - KDL-55XBR8
a good option? (smaller size ofcourse) |
well for those in the same boat as me, i've been looking at this:
Learn about Panasonic's BT-LH1760 However, what I do not understand is the resolution that it offers: 1280x768, why can this not up to 1080 res? Esp for the price they are charging! |
Spike,
you might want to consider JVC's 24" LCD: JVC Professional Features page It has HD-SDI, waveform monitoring, full 1080, etc. Sells for under $4200 at B&H. I have the model DT-V24L1U which doesn't have HD-SDI or waveform, but met my needs, and cost considerably less - I feed it HDMI via a DVI adapter. There was also a model which may still be available that has HD-SDI but no waveform monitor. Here is a review of that model: DV - Reviews - DT-V24L1D The actual selling price was much less than the $4,695 listed in the article. I think that all three models use basically the same display and have the same quality. I am not a pro and I do not do color grading, but I wanted a good monitor that would accurately show my videos. |
thanks David, that JVC actually looks pretty damn good, especially with the 1920 native res compared to 1280! I am gunning for the JVC now, much appreciated!

Take a look at the 37" Marshall 1920x1080 with HD SDI input. V-R371-IMD-HDSDI
Marshall Electronics - Choose LCD Monitors - Desktop Monitors We sell it for a lot less than that list price of $3299. Leaving extra $$ for converters if needed. I used to have the Panasonic 17" and the only thing I miss is the fact that it had a still store. That way I could bring up a previous wide shot and match the current close-up. The waveform on the Panasonic was kind of a joke. Not sure about the JVC's? Since we sometime have HDMI based cameras to test, I'll be adding the AJA HDMI to HD-SDI mini converter AJA Video - Serial Digital Video Interface and Conversion I also hope to add one of the new Matthews Grip Equipment - Matthews Monitor Mount |
Thanks Guy, that Marshall does look good as well and can't beat the price for the size! The only qualm i have with the JVC i mentioned is 1:1 Scaling Mode for pixel-to-pixel 720p display
I was hoping it would have it for 1080 rez footage, or is that asking too much, is there any monitor that does pixel to pixel for 1080? |

If you're feeding 1080i footage. It will be 1:1. And, yeah, you can't beat the price. We're even at about 11% off list price in the Marshall line if I remember correctly. |
hey guys, i'm in a pickle; I can't decide between this : Panasonic | Sony BTLH1700W 26" HD/SD LCD Video | BT-LH2600W
or the JVC Professional Features page Any advice on which would be a better option is highly highly appreciated!!!! |
