Looking for PAL monitor

I have a XL1S PAL and want to view video image in PAL monitor.
Any recommendation?

Howdy from Texas,

For a small, compact 5.6" LCD camera-mounted PAL monitor, try www.varizoom.com -- otherwise Sony, Panasonic and I think JVC all have PAL versions of their pro video monitors in 14" and 19" sizes at B&H -- www.bhphotovideo.com -- hope this helps,

Hi Steve,

I'm in the same boat. If you haven't already made the purchase, ( if you have - which?) here are a few to consider:

Like Chris said, the Varizoom VZ-TFT which is NTSC/PAL switchable.

Then there's the Nebtek especially designed for the XL1s, it's a little pricier, amd I think is a 5" but with superior screen for outdoors, no hood required. Check with Chris at ZGC.

B&H also carry :
LCD Digital LCD-16, a 5.6", NTSC/PAL
LCD Digital LCD-17, a 7", 4:3/16:9, teleprompter, NTSC/PAL
TVONE LT-056, a 5.6", NTSC/PAL
TVONE LT-070, a 7", NTSC/PAL

I believe there are also some Citizen NTSC/PAL monitors which are much cheaper, but have only seen them on eBay.

Let us know which one you get.

standard computer monitors will display ntsc or pal video, with the use of NLE such as fcp3, correct? if one shoots in pal and uses fcp3, one doesn't have to have a "pal computer monitor," correct? i mean while editing the pal BEFORE conversion to ntsc.

Hi,

Computer monitors are not specific to any one particular broadcast standard. The software will convert so PAL or NTSC is viewable on the computer screen.

The NEBTEK-NEB50XL has NTSC/PAL auto-switching and will automatically sense whichever signal is plugged into it and switch itself accordingly. It also can be powered by your existing CANON Li-batteries.
