CRT TV with Component input, can this be used for color correcting?

I was kind of curious. Long story short, I am house sitting for some friends, who are on tour, overseas, for the winter. A pipe burst in the ceiling, and now its getting replaced. I had to move everything out of 2 rooms.

In the course of moving things, I noticed one of the guys had an older Magnavox 25 inch crt tv (the kind with the flat, not curved screen), with component video inputs. I was curious if paring this tv, with something like a Matrox mxo2 mini, through component out, would make this a passable way to color correct? Or at least bring things closer to broadcast quality, then using a computer monitor?

At this time, I can't afford a true broadcast monitor, and thought if I offered to buy this tv, from my friend, or get him a comparable sized lcd replacement, if he would make the trade, and I'd have a working option.

Thanks for the feedback,

Jeff
