Monitor Query

Hi,

I have a question concerning both the GL2 and the XL2 cameras. I'm posting this here so I wont have to post the same threads on both the GL2 and XL2 forums. I also have a question about a Sony cam.

Anyway, here goes. My main concerns are:
Can I use a monitor with the XL2 and/or the GL2 camcorders? I need to know because I'm budgeting a documentary for an art studio and the owner wants a breakdown of the costs. I need to know if should include renting a monitor for either camera. I'm still deciding which camera to use for this project. Ultimately, it's up to the owner though.

Also, can I hook up a shotgun mic to the GL2?

And for my final question, if I end up renting the XL2, would I be better off renting a SONY-DSR200 camera instead? I've used the 250 or 150 (can't remember) before and I thought the quality was great, but I'm not entirely sure. That and I'm a lot more familiar with the Sony cam than with the either canon cameras.

My last and final question, does anybody have any rental places near or in either hollywood or Los Angeles? I've found 2 companies, but I'd like to know of more. Just in case they turn out cheaper/better than the ones I currently have. The two that I have right now are www.wrexlervideo.com and www.dv24p.net

Thank you in advance!

-Roger

Roger - Re: Monitor - Yes, both cameras have both a composite (yellow) and Y/C (S-video) outputs.

Re: Shotgun mic - the GL-2 has a 1/8" audio input. Either find a shotgun with the appropriate plug, get an 1/8 to XLR adapter cable or run through a mixer like a Studio 1.

Re: which camera - all mentioned are good
